Here is the sound of my voice reading the second chant from Dante’s ‘Paradise’, audible as the moon’s echo. The technology used is earth-moon-earth or EME. The voice is sent to the moon by a radio transmitter at Dwingeloo radio telescope (NL) and received as a reflection (or ‘echo’) by two different radio stations in the UK. This recording differs from similar EME sound recordings as it is a stereo echo of the moon, for the reflected signals were picked up in two different locations. The title indicates the distance travelled by the radio waves from the earth to the moon and back.
