COGITO is a thought experiment, currently in the process of being developed as an art
installation and experiential excursion in the Drenthe area (NL). The project is the result of
several years research at the Dwingeloo radio telescope and ASTRON (Dutch Research Centre for Radio Astronomy), during which I had the opportunity to work with interstellar transmissions for a number of my art works. COGITO was presented as pilot project during the
50th Design Biennale in Ljubljana, Slovenia, in September 2014. Within the exhibition,
i presented the possibility of transmitting brain waves into Space as part of a live performance streamed on the web. Several other tests and thought experiments followed, leading to the full conceptual and technological development of the project in 2015-16.
