CURRENTS and PAST COLLABORATIVE PROJECTS

October 2013 to present: I am currently developing my project COGITO, a thought experiment proposing to tranmsit brain waves into space as part of my artist residency at the Dwingeloo radio telescope in The Netherlands. For the project I am collaborating with Space philosopher Frank White, co-founder of the Overview Institute and author of ‘The Overview Effect’. I am also collaborating with neuroscientists from the University of Amsterdam (NL), radio astronomers at ASTRON (NL), film-maker Sandro Bocci (IT) and designer Fabio Nomade (IT).

February 2014 to December 2014 BIO 50, OBSERVING SPACE: an international collaborative project for the 50th Slovenia Biennale of Design. The collaboration culminates in the production of a project informed by space research for a touring exhibition, departing from the Museum of Architecture and Design in Ljubljana, continuing at the Architecture Biennale in Venice and the Art Biennale in Miami.

July 2013 to 2017 advisor for the New Horizons Message: the Initiative hopes to persuade NASA to upload a crowd-sourced message to the spacecraft’s memory, following a successful Pluto encounter. The form and content of the message are yet to be determined. The project is coordinated by American artist Jon Lomberg, in collaboration with an international team of artists and scientists.

May 2013 – ongoing Cabine Voltaire: founder and director. Inspired by the versatile atmosphere of the Dwingeloo radio telescope, Cabine Voltaire is an online channel for live panels at the crossroad of art, science and philosophy (http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwbetCH69CSYJveB9LNEHsQ). The program is in collaboration with 1st Mile Institute, Santa Fe (http://www.1st-mile.com/).

April 2013 – ongoing COGITO ERGO SUM: founder and artistic director. An international live performance consisting of EEG (‘thoughts’) transmissions into outer space from the Dwingeloo radio telescope in The Netherlands. The project is in collaboration with CAMRAS (www.camras.nl) ASTRON (www.astron.nl), the Spinoza Center and the Amsterdam University College (NL).

January 2013 – ongoing ASTROARTS: an international, online cultural platform of Astronomers Without Borders (AWB). Co-founded in 2012 by visual artist Daniela de Paulis (IT/NL) and astronomer Thilina Heenatigala (Sri Lanka), AstroArts features creative works inspired by astronomy . AstroArts is an international initiative – lead by professionals working in the arts and science fields (http://astronomerswithoutborders.org/blog/astroart-blog/item/the-artisan-in-space-one-year-of-astroarts.html)

October 2009 – ongoing OPTICKS: founder and artistic director. OPTICKS is an international live performance between the Earth and the Moon, in collaboration with CAMRAS (www.camras.nl), ASTRON (www.astron.nl) and radio amateurs across the world (www.opticks.info).

2007 – ongoing: I create the video installations for ‘STILL’, ‘FACE ON’ and ‘NO END’, a series of works by British choreographer Anna Krzystek, based on the premise of waiting (http://www.annakrzystek.com/).

2009 – ongoing Artisti Innocenti: Italian performance group, based in Rome and working in public spaces.

2001-2002 core member of AZYGY: a residency project supporting experimental collaborative, performative practice for one-year. Based at Old Spitalfields Market, London. Sound and movement-based improvisation in-situ, forming weekly public performance events
